Individual Therapy

In my therapy sessions, we’ll work to solve current problems and change unhelpful thinking and behavior. I will help you “re-frame” your thinking and provide you with valuable tools to cope with life’s obstacles. Below are a little bit about the modalities I work with.

EMDR

Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), is a research-supported, integrative psychotherapy approach designed to treat symptoms of  trauma and posttraumatic stress

. EMDR sessions follow a specific sequence of phases, and practitioners use bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements, to help the client process unresolved memories from adverse experiences. EMDR can be used to address any number of concerns, and it is compatible with other types of therapy.

EFT/Tapping

Emotional Freedom Technique  ( EFT) is a  treatment method that offers healing from physical and emotional pain. Without the use of needles, this form of acupuncture uses the fingertips to stimulate energy points on the body. EFT is a very effective way of clearing out feelings, and when an unwanted feeling is gone, the limiting beliefs that the client held are released. New, more positive beliefs about themselves can emerge. Learning EFT also empowers the client  to take charge of handling their emotional state because they can tap on a feeling any time they want to move out a painful feeling.

Informed Internal Family Systems ( IFS) Parts Work/ Inner Child Work

Parts work is built on the idea that the self is made up of different parts that can conflict or support one another. It includes a range of different therapies that attempt to resolve inner conflicts that prevent a person from healing. Parts work often involves experiential techniques and role plays to get different parts talking to one another.

According to IFS, we all have a Self that is best able to lead and direct the course of our lives, but we also have different ‘subpersonalities’ that develop, often in response to hardship or trauma we experience. These subpersonalities are called ‘parts’ because each has its own feelings and needs and also develops certain habits and roles over time. Parts work is a therapy method that attempts to create more positive and supportive interactions between these parts

Walk and Talk Therapy

offered on Wednesday's

Walk and talk therapy, as the name suggests, takes therapy outdoors while walking. It is both a mindfulness-based and an eco, or type of nature, therapy. Instead of the traditional face-to-face interaction in an office setting, clients and therapists engage in conversation while strolling through.

Walk and talking is especially helpful for reducing anxiety and depression symptoms. It can help reduce ruminations and intrusive thoughts, help clients regulate their moods, and even improve sleep.

Yoga Circles

Yoga uses, breathing exercises, meditation, and guided imagery to improve mental and physical health. The holistic focus of yoga therapy encourages the integration of mind, body, and spirit. Yoga poses, breathing exercises and meditation are typically woven in the therapy session or assigned as homework. â€‹

Art Circles

Art therapy involves the use of creative techniques such as drawing, painting, collage, coloring, or sculpting to help people express themselves artistically and examine the psychological and emotional undertones in their art.

Therapist and  clients work to  interpret the nonverbal messages, symbols, and metaphors often found in these art forms, which should lead to a better understanding of their feelings and behavior so they can move on to resolve deeper problems.
